Halloween was so uber! At first, I thought it would blow completely. My dad told me that I was in charge of handing out candy. I was supposed to be going out with my little sister and her friends, but I decided not to protest. Maggie's friend Mikayla had an excellent idea. She told me to sit on the porch and hold the bowl in my hands. Guess how that went?

There must be something very offputting about a giant raven that I'm completely clueless about. For the fourth time in a row, I was dressed as the Thief Lord but I tell everyone that I'm a raven just to save two minutes of explaining. The first group of kids shivered and hesitated to take any candy from the bowl. At least 7 people, 5 of them teenagers, looked at me, giggled nervously, and kept walking. Finally, a ditzy sounding girl said, "What's up with the mannequin?" When she tried to take the candy, she jumped back as soon as she realized that I was real.

At around 8 P. M., I went trick-or-treating with my friend Kyra. We we're out for an hour and got delightfully big stashes. One guy gave me three handfuls 'cause no one else came around. One lady opened the door, jumped back, and exclaimed, "Wow, you two are TALL!" That made me laugh.

The only annoying thing was that people kept tweaking my mask and saying, "I like your nose." What the heck? It's a beak, not a nose! I despair of my neighbors.

The night was perfecy. We had a full moon, a mild breeze, and warm temperatures. I love Halloween. I get free candy and can go walking around town on an autumn night. That is perfection.
